ReStore volunteers are an integral part of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newark’s mission. You’ll help drive sales in our store, assist customers, place merchandise, help process donations, and much more.

Most of our volunteers spend time on-site with us for a day at a time. Although there is no commitment to work for longer than a day, we love having return volunteers on-site. When volunteers return to work with us, we can teach them new skills, expand on old ones, and begin to give them more responsibility.
What You'll Be Doing
The Fairfield, NJ Habitat for Humanity ReStore’s professional staff will teach you the skills needed for the work you will be doing and with the tools you will be handling.
All tools and materials will be supplied by Habitat of Greater Newark. However, you may bring personal tools if you wish. If you choose to do so, please make sure they are well marked.
You will be shown the proper way to do the job and the correct handling of the required tools for the job. You will never be made to do something that makes you uncomfortable.
What To Wear
Please wear comfortable and casual clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty. Jeans, athletic shorts or pants, etc. are acceptable. Shoes should be closed-toe sneakers or boots.
Come prepared for the weather! Many tasks require volunteers to be in the elements so arrive with the appropriate jacket, raincoat, or sweatshirt.
Aprons will be provided for the time you are working in the store.

All items at the ReStore are sold as is. No exchange except for nonworking appliances. Note too that the ReStore is a self-service warehouse—bring a truck and a friend to help you get your purchases home.
